Approaching Easter in Russia
Thursday was cleaning day in the FSU.
There is a term for it, “Clean Thursday” and this entire week has been “Clean Week.” On Clean Thursday it is proper to clean your house, yard and yourself. On Friday you are not supposed to eat, work or listen to any kind of music.”
On Saturday you fast from Noon to Sundown. The Resurrection liturgy begins in the late evening (11pm or midnight usually) and lasts to 3 or 4 AM the next morning.
