More arrests with Sunday’s anti-Putin demonstration on Red Square

They came unannounced. Also unapproved. If there is one place in Russia where a anti-government protest will never be approved, it is Red Square. Should a large crowd gain control of Red Square it would only be a matter of time before they could breach the Kremlin walls and that scenario is the kind of stuff of which regime change is accomplished.

So it was no surprise on Sunday that police forces called in reinforcements quickly to put down and disperse the small crowd that had come to Red Square for an unauthorized protest.

The protesters shouted slogans like “Russia without Putin” and “It’s our City.”
